So after being in Korea for a little over a month, we went to Qingdao, China.

Here we are in front of the modern Wind of May sculpture in a place called May 4th Square. I didn't know it at the time, but this red circles-with-a-ball-inside sculpture is like the symbol of Qingdao and is even in the city's wikipedia article!

From wikipedia:
..1897 when the city was ceded to Germany (after Hong Kong fell under British control and Macau went to the Portuguese). The Germans soon turned Tsingtao into a strategically important port, basing their Pacific Squadron there, allowing the fleet to conduct operations throughout the Far East. The German Imperial government planned and built the first streets and institutions of the city we see today, including the world-famous Tsingtao Brewery.
The place is called the May 4th Square because of an incident after WWI when the Japanese took over Qingdao and China wanted it back (among other things).
What a sad, yet interesting history of foreign imperialists Qingdao and the rest of China has... I love wikipedia!

The guy in the red shirt is my mom's family's friend that was essentially part of her family when they were growing up. He took us to China. Thanks Mr. Kang!

The best part the whole trip to China was this one club we went to in Qingdao... everytime we went, we had such a blast and wanted to come back for more.

For the first 1.5 hours or so that the club was open (at around 9pm) it was open mic karaoke, and my brother David and I sang a ton of American and Korean songs... and though they probably couldn't understand a single word, the crowd LOVED US! We went all out - dancing and everything while singing and some people even went up to us while we were performing and gave us beer!

After the karaoke was over, it was time to dance!
And we showed the Chinese clubbers how Korean-Americans dance!

We got VIP treatment because Mr. Kang sorta knew the owner of the club.

David, Lulu (the club MC and singer), me dripping in sweat after dancing for 3 hours (siiaack!), the club owner, and Mr. Kang.

We went to this club THREE TIMES! After the third time, David traded contact info with Lulu and they exchanged a series of juicy FOBALICIOUS emails! Go ask him to show them to you!

We also went to a zoo in Qingdao because I wanted to see some pandas, but unfortunately they didn't have any. They had panda balloons, panda statues, panda posters in front of the zoo, but no real life pandas! They tricked us tourists!

Here's us in front of the alligator cage. In the picture, the alligator is to the right of Mr. Kang with its mouth open.
According to wikipedia, alligators are cousins to crocodiles and only live in China and America. Wow wow wow

China was fun.

Korean people love to wear clothes with all kinds of international flags on them and also clothes with English writing... maybe they're trying to look sophisticated, but sometimes it comes out SO WRONG!!! Check out this t-shirt I saw yesterday:

And yes... I do carry my camera around wherever I go. That and a Korean-to-English/English-to-Korean dictionary, and a map of Seoul.

Korea Part 2-ish
(Part 1 about the Jeju island tour can be found on my brother's xanga)

Right after our awesome Jeju-do tour, my mom, my brother, and I spent 3 weeks traveling all over the Jeolla region visiting family and checking out all the National Treasures.

First we went to the city of Jeonju where my mom's sister lives, but unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the zoo and stuff that we went to.

Then we went to Iksan where my mom's brother lives. We stayed at their nice home on the third floor above a restaurant called "sui".

The zoning laws must be pretty lax here because it's really common to have businesses and homes in the same building. Often times the owner of the business lives right next to his shop.

The nightlife in Iksan. I actually saw a few white people walking around.

The roads in Korea are terrible! Sure there are big roads, but a lot of the roads are this tiny and usually two cars can't go in opposite directions at the same time!

Here's me and my bro with one of our cousins named DaeHoon. He's 28, super smart, and working for the government right now. He actually knows English pretty well and had the top score on the TOEFL his year.

After Iksan, we went to Namwon where my mom's oldest sister lives (25 years older!!!!), but I no pictures!

Then we went to Gwangju where another one of my mom's sister lives.

We stayed at a house right next to this gas station that the family runs, a GSCalTex.

Gasoline/petrol is hella expensive in Korea! About 1500 Won per liter.... which is according to my calculations about $6/gallon!

Here are two cute nieces playing dangerously around the gas station yay.

aww they're wearing their "Red Devils" headgear too. Actually a lot of Koreans still wear their Red Devils shirts. It's too bad Korea didn't even make it past the first round this year. But we will always remember the miraculous 4th place finish that we had in World Cup 2002!!!

Here we're having dinner using the biggest hot pot I've ever seen in my life.

My mom's on the right. Doesn't she look young? I bet you would have never guessed she's 47. My cousin Joon on the left looks pretty young too (31).

There are lots and lots of Buddhist temples in Korea and we visited a bunch of them.

This temple room had a stick and a round thing so I banged them together.

The most eye-opening site we visited was the national cemetary and (still in construction) monument established to recognized the killings that started on the day of May 18th, 1980 in the city of Gwangju.

This cemetary is HUGE! Around 2000 people died that day from the beatings and shootings of the military... people that tried to rise up against the increasingly autocratic government.

Next we drove over to the city of Naju to check out the set of a Korean drama called Jumong. Oh man... by far, this was the single most impressive thing I've seen in all of Korea!

It's like they literally built an entire village just for this drama about ancient Korea. It is GINORMOUS.

So I officially moved out of the Irvine apartment at the end of December, but I've still been going back every week for stuff...

Last time I went, there was a party... everybody was having a good time... I was happy as can be...

and ripped them all up instead! These were my only good pair of blue jeans and I wore them all the time.

I had to walk around like this for the rest of the party. Everybody kept trying to slap my ass and it hurt like helllllll each time. Bastards. My super thin boxers gave me no protection... but I bet their hands were hurting just as bad cuz I have buns of STEEL.

Important lesson for everybody: DON'T TRY TO PULL PEOPLE'S PANTS OFF! ...especially in the middle of a party... that's messed up! It's worse than pushing someone into a swimming pool with all their clothes on...

EDIT:
Just to clarify, the jeans were ripped MULTIPLE times... and I didn't see any of it coming.
First it was just a small rip on my right rear pocket... then my friend felt bad and said he'd replace the jeans... and since he was gonna buy me new ones anyway, he said he'd even things out a bit.... and ripped the left side! Then another friend saw that and thought it was funny and rrrriiiipped some more!

I went shopping this week for jeans and I bought 3 pairs! (2 from anchor blue for $40 bucks and one from pac sun bull head for $10)... and then my friend replaced my ripped ones (levi silver tab for $18) so now I have FOUR pairs of blue jeans in blue, blue, dark blue, and really dark blue!
I've never owned so many pairs of jeans at once in my life. I'm so friggin rich!

I play a lot of basketball at Pantera Park in Diamond Bar. Usually I play for about two hours and go home. When I got back home today I noticed something kinda funny about myself.

I took off my shoes and my socks and started walking around and it felt like something was wet.

I sat down cross-legged, looked at the bottom of my feet and saw this:

What the heck is this? My mom said it looked like I made something out of flour and put it on my feet.

Let's take a closer look!

They're the BIGGEST BLISTERS I've ever gotten in my life! And they're already popped!

Let's see what TREASURES lay underneath!

A fresh layer of skin! It's pink and pretty sensitive. Disgusting huh? SIiiiaaaaAaACKK!!!!!!!

I wasn't sure why at first, but looking at these huge blisters kept cracking me up! It was just so freakin funny to see blisters THAT huge! I guess it's like seeing someone with a big cartoony nose for the first time as a kid. Now wasn't that a funny moment? But now instead of big noses, it's big blisters.... oh the hilarity! yes I know.
I guess you had to be there.

Lesson of the day: wear good basketball shoes with good soles when playing ball. After wearing them for 6 months, my Magic 32's are being retired and I'm never wearing them again (did you know Magic Johnson has his own line of shoes?). It was cool wearing them when they were new because nobody else had them... but I guess that's because they kinda suck.

Now I'm wearing Adidas T-MAC 3's that I bought new from mikeian:

They're made of shiny blue patent leather! haha!

Shiny shiny shoes! oooooooh yeah baby! Aren't they beautiful? At the least I get to blind my opponents! I know these shoes don't match with any of my clothes, but I'm gonna wear them anyway!

Now to keep these shoes clean, I'm going to use this for indoor only and I have to buy another pair for outdoor courts.

MASSIVE picture update!

Here's a story of what's been happening in my gangsta thug life...

First off, if you haven't figured out who my hot secret APhiO banquet date was, it was.... Tiffany Harless! And yes, the rumors are true... I did ask her through xanga. BUT though that may sound extremely lame at first, don't forget that in doing so, I gave her two whole, heartfelt, and genuine eProps!

*ducks*

When we first got to the banquet, we were so pissed off because we didn't get food right away, and we were HUNGRY!!! My necktie even twisted up on itself!

But then the music started playing and we quickly forgot about food and started dancing weeee!

But my littles were still angry! Look at Matthew Wang and Nancy Tran! They're so CRAZY!!! oOoo you don't wanna mess with them! They're freakin ACTIVES now!

After some dancing and eating, they calmed down a bit but still wanted the waiters to know that they're NOT TO BE MESSED WITH!! And no doubt, I will back them up in ANY food fight!

Here's my table, Including my Parkwood apartment mates! I'm sitting next to our president Jeremy Thacker! Since we had the president of our fraternity at the table + a couple of officers, we therefore had the most POWERFUL TABLE that night!!!

Then a bunch of us went to Disneyland! We went on a Wednesday when there were no lines!
Thanks to my DB friends Will and Nina for getting 5 of us in for free! Real gangstas don't pay for Disneyland!

Then I went to Big Bear to go cabining (that's what Diamond Bar gangstas call renting a super luxurious cabin for 4 days/3 nights and packing 18 people in it), and we went snowboarding up in the clouds!

While there, I found the Big Bear and I wrestled him!

But even gangstas have their weaknesses. Me, Will, and Tom, and the bear statue all got hit in the crotch.

Jumping pictures are fun! Steve couldn't jump cuz I burned him in basketball so bad.

The girls also gave it a go. They can jump higher than Steve!

Then I went back to my apartment home in Irvine and had early Christmas in Parkwood! We're posing in front of my first Christmas tree I've ever helped decorate! Yup...and we do group poses like this ALL THE TIME.
